Prof. Dr. Ozkan Alatas (MD, Specialist of Clinical Biochemistry)

Prof. Dr. Ozkan Alatas was graduated from the Medical Faculty of Ege University, Turkey in 1985. After mandatory medical service as a general practitioner, he became a specialist in Clinical Biochemistry in 1992 and full professor in 2002.

He is the Director of the Clinical Laboratory in Eskisehir Osmangazi University Hospital since 1996. He worked as Chair of the Department of Medical Biochemistry, Vice Dean (2008-2012) and Dean (Two term 2012-2012 and 2020-2022) in Medical Faculty. Prof.Alatas has served for Curriculum Commission of Speciality Education in Medical Biochemistry under the Council of Specialization in Medicine which is working on standardization of education of medical specialists in Turkey as a member since 2009 and chair from 2014.

Prof.Alatas has been the President of the Turkish Society of Clinical Biochemistry since 2012 which is the constituent society of the World Association of Societies of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (WASPaLM). He is the Board member of WASPaLM as the Director Europe between 2017-2023, and as the Regional Director of Mediterrenean Area since 2023.

His main research area is endocrinology, inflammation and education. In the field of clinical biochemistry, he is the author of 95 publications in peer-reviewed international journals with more than 1100 citations.

Prof.Alatas is married and has one daughter, one son and one grandchild.
