Professor Sergio Bernardini is Secretary of the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC) and Chair of the IFCC Emerging Technologies Division. He is Head of the Department of Laboratory Medicine at the University Hospital of the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” and Professor of Clinical Biochemistry and Clinical Molecular Biology (Internal Medicine). He also serves as Chair of the undergraduate programme in Diagnostic Laboratory Techniques (Medicine) and is a research consultant in clinical laboratory medicine at Bambino Gesù Children’s Hospital in Rome.

Professor Bernardini is President of the Italian Society of Clinical Biochemistry and Clinical Molecular Biology (SIBioC) and sits on the editorial boards of several leading journals, including Clinica Chimica Acta, Critical Reviews in Clinical Laboratory Sciences, and the Journal of Applied Laboratory Medicine. His main research interests are paediatric endocrinology, clinical biochemistry, and clinical molecular biology. He has received the SIBioC Internationalisation Award in recognition of his contributions to international collaboration in laboratory medicine.
